Willow

Willow (aka Tutu) is a young schnauzer who arrived into the care of Friends of Animals Wales rescue suffering with ‘cherry eye’. This is an uncomfortable condition which can lead to further complications such as corneal ulcers and conjuncitivitis. Most dogs will require surgery and this is what Willow is soon to have.

More can be read on the condition on the PDSA website, but essentially cherry eye is where a gland in the eye pops out, it is an obvious, visible problem. It can require more than one operation for the condition to be successful, but most cases are curable.

MARCH 2022

Willow’s eye surgery was successful and she recovered well in the care of her foster home. During her recovery she was also learning that life is not as scary, and her confidence was given the best chance to grow before she went off to her new home.

Willow now lives with her new canine sisters Jess and Georgie and continues to learn every day that life is now good and there is no reason to be fearful. She is gaining cofidence all the time, under the guidance of her sisters and new human family. The outside world remains a little scary, she has visited her local park, on high alert, but step by step, she is overcoming her worries. We’re looking forwards to seeing her thrive, we know she has some beautiful beaches she’ll soon be running around on without a care in the world.
