“I think until you become a pet parent / guardian, you are not really aware of just how bad the breeding industry can be. We were lucky that River came from a very loving place, but after learning more through your work and Hope Rescue, when it came to getting him a friend, we knew adoption was the only way. ”
We received a lovely email containing these words, and are sharing with permission, the warmest thanks for everything that your support makes possible.
We took River to his first Schnauzerfest walk in Llandudno this year, which was just lovely.
We applied a few times to different rescues, but distance or just high demand meant we were unsuccessful. However, in November I saw your recommendation of Petrehomer, and there was this little sweetie looking for a new home. We were overjoyed when we were chosen to meet Ripley.
He was clearly very loved by his owner but their serious health problems led to Ripley not being walked for 7 months. Despite this, Ripley was a very kind and lovely boy. After a weekend of meets, we were lucky enough to take him home.
He was very overweight, with quite a considerable yeast infection and had very sore and stained paws.
Fast forward a few weeks, and he is on better quality food, has lost excessive weight and with the help of the vets and regular special paw washes, the yeast infection is getting under control. Ripley had to build up to his walks again, and he is now running with his brother.
He really has completed our family, and we love him very much. He has got a little way to go with his health, but he is heading in the right direction and just the sweetest boy.
I wanted to send a message to thank you for all the hard work you do fundraising, raising awareness about bad breeding and all the love and support you give to dogs and schnauzers in need throughout the year. Without you, we wouldn’t have the lovely Ripley.
I hope that one day we might be in a position to become foster parents, and that River and Ripley will be able to love and support other dogs.
