Jingles

Jingles is in the care of Friends of Animals Wales having been given up by her breeder - she does not like handling or human interactions. She cannot tolerate being handled at all, and will be staying in her foster home until solid progress has been made.

Her life as a breeding dog has meant she is very far from being able to accept even basic, gentle touch. An approaching human however kind is not understood by Jingles as welcome. Things we take for granted when we live with 'normal' dogs, you couldn't do with Jingles - like get up off your sofa - you can't, not without her reacting negatively.

Stroke her? Out of the question, she wouldn't let you near enough to even try.

Comfort her with a hug, just a tiny one? Not a chance. You will terrify her just by thinking you'll try. This is the harm done to dogs in the breeding industry.

With time, and work - a lot of work on Jingles part - and patience and dedication, and adjusting life around Jingles needs, not just for a few weeks but for months and possibly years, her whole lifetime even, her adopter, when that happens, will be amply rewarded. There are many unknowns on the path of recovery Jingles is now on.

Schnauzerfest is supporting Friends of Animals Wales with Jingles’ veterinary costs while she is in foster care.

FEBRUARY 2021

After spending several weeks with her fosterer, Jingles has been adopted and now lives with schnauzer sisters Jessie and Teddy. The process of healing from her past trauma is something that Jingles new family is well placed to help her with, and small sparks of progress brighten each day.

Jingles is a scared dog and finds things difficult which most dogs would be casual about - for example walking through doorways, and if humans are present even more so. She has found her safe space, and retreats there to the sofa when things worry her. She’s making this her own by hoarding her toys on it, being active at night with them when no scary humans are around. While her sisters are a little unsure at times - they’re adjusting themselves having lost their beloved sister Patience in December - they are helping Jingles settle into life in a home. She has everything to learn and is doing so well everyday, bravely doing her best with all challenges that come along.

Jingles is absolutely beautiful and we can’t wait to see what each day brings with her. Her new sisters and she all love food, so we do games to keep them entertained. She’s scared of the lead and we’re slowly getting her used to the feel of a lead but walking her is some way off yet, but we’ll get there.

We are so thankful to the whole FOAW team and Schnauzerfest for the support they have given us and Jingles, and to every Schnauzerfest supporter for helping the charity.

Jingles has a wonderful future ahead of her, she is with a family that will provide not only all the love in the world, but the dedication, patience and understanding that she’ll need to overcome her past.
