Bowie’s family faced some stark decisions when he became very unwell with a recurrence of bladder stones. Two years previously surgery had been needed for this and during that time, under guidance from his vet, Bowie’s family had made all possible adjustments to aid recovery and prevent it happening again.
Unfortunately the insurance did not cover this crisis, as it was considered a pre-existing condition. With other life complications in the family, plus covering the costs of Bowie’s emergency treatment, without assistance Bowie’s life would come to an end.
His family tried many avenues seeking assistance all to no avail.
After receiving an urgent application, the Trustees made a thorough assessment, including consulting Bowie’s veterinary team and Brodie’s life saving surgery could go ahead. It was much more complicated than expected, but he was soon allowed home to continue with his recovery.
Without assistance from Schnauzerfest Bowie would not have survived.
